TRAI UPDATE: Telcos can no longer deactivate sim if it contains the required minimum balance. 😎😎😎
1. You are required to keep a minimum balance as prescribed by your Telecom Operator. (Rs30-35)
2. You don't need to recharge every month. You just need to make sure that you have the balance in your sim.
3. As long as you have the required minimum balance in your sim and receiving calls and sms, your Telecom Operator cannot deactivate it.
4. Earlier Existing Rules to Remain:
- Your sim will be valid for up to 30 days till the last call or sms from your number. So, you are required to make at least 1 call or 1 sms once in 30 days.
- If you don't make a call or sms from your number within 30 days, but have more than the required minimum balance, your Telecom Operator cannot deactivate your sim. They will have to deduct the 'Required Minimum Balance' from your sim first. And continue doing that till your balance goes below the 'Required Minimum Balance' and then only they can deactivate your sim.
Basically, that means if you have a Rs300 Balance on your inactive sim, it would take them 10 months to deactivate the number)
PS: Many people doesn't know about this last rule. Telecoms seem to neglect it unless the user fights back. :)
PPS: Now some funny news: Jio gained 13 million subscribers in September, while Airtel lost 3 million and Voda-Idea lost 6 million subscribers all total.
Now this is the stat of the time when this new chaos by Telcos didn't begin. Think what would have happened in October and November when Airtel and Vodafone were playing these cheap tactics of deactivating sims... 😂😂😂
PPPS: Jio played the masterstroke of extending all users validity for 1 year by adding Jio Prime subscription. Now even if someone doesn't recharge and have no balance on their account, their sim will still remain active for 1 year. ;)
